Framework 18 adds new gallery and highlight box inlines, as well as standardising the image inline. It also implements shared search and logo components that can be used by all of the site themes. The Google Analytics library has been changed to gtag.js
Please note that as this site has not yet been updated to Framework 18, the examples below are just screenshots of the new inlines. There's more information in the Inlines - Standard Behaviour article.
Gallery Inline
The gallery inline is designed to showcase high quality images that can be viewed in a full screen scrolling gallery.
The inline lets you select up to 20 images which will appear as thumbnails on your page:
Selecting an image expands the gallery. You can then scroll through the images or press the "play" button to view a slideshow.
Highlight Box
The new highlight box is designed to replace the deprecated "Page Snippet Inline". As well as the ability to pull in content from other articles, the box uses the same "info", "alert", "warn" and "error" styling present in other products.
The inline dialog lets you pick an article to provide content, or enter a title and text directly. You can also add your own CSS modifier if you'd like to provide custom styling via your site skin.css.
Improved Image Inline
There have been various versions of the image inline over the years and we have taken this opportunity to standardise it. Both the iCM4j and iCM.NET frameworks now support:
- Choosing the image size from thumbnail, standard or large (these dimensions are set by your site's theme)
- Floating the image left or right, or not at all
- Linking to a large version of the image, or to the article/external link embedded via the media item
- Setting whether the image is decorative or not (this controls the content of the image
alt tag) - Adding a caption to the image
Search Placeholder Text
Previous versions of the Search template let you set placeholder text that would be used wherever the search input appeared. We've added a new field so you can set different text for the search input in a site header compared to the main input on the search article.
Google Analytics
The Google Analytics snippet output by the frameworks has been changed from analytics.js to gtag.js. You won't notice any difference in the behaviour of your site and your cookie consent site features will behave as they did before.
