iCM events work in conjunction with other GOSS products. They are not a stand-alone feature and require some means of being displayed on your website (often the Calendar template).
As of 2017 iCM events are a legacy product. The new Events Suite of templates (which includes the Event, Event Search, Calendar and Location templates) do not use iCM events.
Event Groups
iCM events are organised into groups. Groups can be used with iCM Privileges to restrict where your iCM users are able to create their events.
To create a new group, right-click on an existing group, or the root EVENTS group and choose "Create a group".
The only property a group has is its name.
Creating and Editing Events
To create a new event, right-click on an event group and choose "Create an event". To edit an existing event, double-click on it.
Event Properties
Each event holds the following information.
Property | Description |
---|---|
Description | The event's name or description |
Start | The event's start date and time. Time should be set in 24 hour (hh:mm:ss) format |
Duration | The duration of the event. This should be specified as a whole number using one of the listed units (minutes, hours, days, weeks, months or years) |
Single event | Check this box if the event only occurs once. Unchecking this box will enable the recurrence options |
Recur every | The frequency of the recurring event. Select a value and one of the listed units (minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years). The value must be greater than the event's duration. The end date and time will be calculated and automatically updated if the recur value is modified |
End on | The recurring event's end date and time. Either this, or the "end after" value, must be set |
End after | The number of times that the event recurs. The equivalent "end on" date and time will be calculated and automatically updated if this value is changed |
Parent group | The ID and name of the group this event is in. Press the "Select" button to pick a new group |
Event Metadata
Metadata values can be related to events. This is often used to control which calendars your event will appear on. See the Calendar Template documentation for further information.
Use the "Select" button to locate and add metadata to your event.
Deleting Events
To delete an event, right-click on it and choose "Delete this event".
