Suspending and Activating a Process

The process modeller allows you to suspend a deployed process. This will prevent any new instances of the process from being created. It will also suspend any instances that are already running. The suspended process, or individual instances of it, may then be re-activated as needed.

As long as the Workflow - Start Action fields in your forms are set to always start the "latest" version of a process, suspending the most recent version will stop all any new instances being started. It is possible to start an instance of an older version while a newer version is suspended if the action field specifically targets it.

Suspending and activating processes is logged in iCM's security/audit log.

Suspending a Process

Suspend Process
Select one of the listed processes and then click the "Suspend current process" button in the toolbar. The modeller will display a confirmation dialogue detailing the process that will be suspended. Once you are confident that you want to proceed with the suspension, click the "Ok" button.

Re-Activating a Suspended Process

Activate a Process
When a suspended process is selected in the "Processes" list, the "Suspend current process" button in the Toolbar will instead say "Activate current process". When you are ready to re-activate the process and its suspended instances, select the suspended process and click this toolbar button again. Note that any timers that expired while the process was suspended will fire as soon as the process is reactivated - see Timers.
