iCM organises metadata properties into groups. These groups allow metadata to be restricted to certain iCM users, based upon their privileges.
Creating and Editing Groups
To create a new group, right-click on an existing group, or the root METADATA group, and select "Create a group". To edit an existing group, double-click on it.
Group Properties
Property | Description |
---|---|
Name | The name of this group. A group name should be unique within the parent group it is created in |
Search field | If a value is entered here, articles and media items that have any of the metadata values of this group (or child groups) related to them, will include this search field as an additional property when indexed by the iCM search engine. This additional property will hold the related metadata values. See Understanding Metadata Properties and Values for an example |
Parent group | The parent of this group. Use the "Select" button to choose a new parent |
Ordering | Use the ordering tab and up and down arrows to reorder any of the items in this group |
Deleting a Group
To delete a group, right-click on it and select "Delete this group". Deleting a group will delete all of the groups, properties and values within it.
Unlike other iCM content items, metadata groups do not maintain version history. If a group is deleted there is no way to restore it.
Importing and Exporting
Metadata groups, with their properties and values, can be exported and imported into another iCM installation.
Right click on the group you would like to export, or import into, and select "Export" or "Import".
There are no uniqueness constraints for iCM metadata properties or values. Content is imported with the group structure of the export. If the group structure matches what is already in the target iCM, properties are added to the existing groups and values added to the existing properties.
