Metadata values are the terms that can be related to other content items in iCM. Values are the descriptive elements of a property.

To create a new value, right-click on a property and select "Create a value". To edit an existing value, double-click on it.
Properties
Property | Description |
---|---|
Metadata value | The name of this value ie the value itself that will be used be the website etc |
Description | A description of this value |
Local Terms/Synonyms | Synonyms are included with a metadata value when they are indexed by the iCM search. If you are performing a metadata based search, searched for synonyms would return content that uses this value. See Understanding Metadata Properties and Values for an example |
Schema name | If this metadata value is part of a recognised schema its name can be entered here |
Schema ID | The ID of this value within the schema |
Known Terms/Synonyms | Known terms or synonyms which are published in the schema. It's best to leave known terms untouched as they are the official terms defined for this particular metadata value. Use the local terms to add any additional synonyms that may be used locally |
Related Metadata | It is possible to relate metadata values to a metadata value. Use the "Select" button to add values to this value. Highlight an value and click "Remove" to remove it. |
Properties | This tab lists the property the value is part of. Use the "Select" button to move the value to a different property |
Deleting a Value
To delete a value, right-click on it and select "Delete this value".
Unlike other iCM content items, metadata values do not maintain version history. If a value is deleted there is no way to restore it.
