The subsite configuration options are driven by a form, this is often called SUBSITEEXTRAS but historic sites may still be using SUBSITECONFIG.
Historically, as features were added or updated, it required a manual change for these to become available in your configuration forms. With the advent of Smart Snippets this is no longer the case. The following steps list how you can modify your subsite configuration form so that it is automatically updated each week.
Warning
Review your subsite configuration form design and check if it has anything custom.
Custom aspects could include bespoke theme settings or bespoke arbitrary settings for features developed by GOSS, just for you.
Standard form
If you have no custom functionality, then feel free to import the relevant SUBSITEEXTRAS form from the "downloads" section of this page, under the GOSS / System / Subsites form group, and allow it to overwrite your existing form.
Publish this for production and test it works by saving a subsite using it before you promote it to other environments.
Custom aspects
If you do have custom functionality, then you could either:
- Open your subsite configuration form in the GOSS form designer.
- Save your custom settings as one or more snippet(s).
- Import the relevant SUBSITEEXTRAS form from the "downloads" section of this page, under the GOSS / System / Subsites form group, and allow it to overwrite your existing form.
- Add you custom setting snippets back onto the form and publish for production.
or follow the more granular next steps:
- Open your Subsite Configuration form in the GOSS Form designer.
- Delete all of the existing GOSS standard vertical layouts and accordions. Ensure you preserve your custom settings.
- Navigate to the Smart Snippets area and drag on to the form, the "General subsite settings" smart snippet under the "Subsites" accordion.
- Below this within the form design, drag the Snippet (not smart) called "Product subsite settings".
- Drag the following Smart Snippets into the "Product subsite settings" container:
- Assisted Service - Subsite Snippet
- Bookings subsite settings
- Dual Language - Subsite Settings (Java only)
- Panel Template - Subsite Snippet
- PWA Snippet
- Beneath the Product layout, drag each of the following Themes Smart Snippets in order:
- THEMECONFIGCHILL snippet
- THEMECONFIGCOMMAND snippet
- THEMECONFIGCRUISE snippet
- THEMECONFIGDYNAMIC snippet
- THEMECONFIGIMPACT snippet
- Ensure your custom settings are kept in a suitable area, whether that is within the product settings area or beneath/above the themes containers.
- Save and publish the form for Production.
Testing the changes
Please test your form changes before you export and import your form onto live environments. To do this you should:
- Open up a Subsite definition and load the configuration.
- Review the settings are still present and accurate.
- Save the subsite, wait a short while for caches to clear and then check the site it powers continues to render as expected.
You should now be leveraging smart snippets, if you have any questions or concerns then do get in touch.
