This article looks at the elements that make up the homepage and how they can be customised.
Almost all of the features are optional. If you don't enable them, the rest of the content will move up to fill the space.
Background Image
To display a background image behind the carousel and blocks/tabs, relate an image of the "Background" media type to the article.
Carousel
The carousel is optional. If you enable it in the article extras, it displays the articles of the Home template's first related feature group. If "Show Carousel" is set as "No" the first related feature group appears as part of the "Feature Groups" section (see below).
Each panel in the carousel is an article in the feature group:
- The carousel image is the first image related to the article
- The panel title is the feature article's heading
- The panel description is the feature article's summary text
The articles in your feature group can use any template type, including the Redirect template.
Blocks or Tabs
The panels on the Home template can appear as blocks, or be organised into a tab component. See Chill Home and Chill Home with Tabs for examples.
In the article extras pick which layout you'd like to use and whether the child article of the page should be used, or alternatively you can pick articles from anywhere on your site:
Body Text
The Home template wouldn't normally display the page title, breadcrumb or body content. When configured to do so, these appear as per the Default template, above all other items. These items are toggled on and off using the "Show Article Content" and "Show Breadcrumb" options in the article extras.
Related Articles
Any number of articles can be related to the Home template to appear in rows beneath the carousel and section blocks or tabs. The page title of each article acts as a link to the full article. An article summary and picture, if available, are also displayed.
If the related article uses the List template, links to its list items can be displayed beneath the summary.
Feature Groups
Beneath the related articles any number of featured groups of articles can be displayed. The groups appear in two columns and each group can contain any number of articles. The title of each feature group provides the group heading and the title of each article populates the list of links.
