Buildings and Floors

Buildings and floors are created in iCM. Building articles generally use the List template, but could also use the Location template.

Beneath each building are articles representing each floor. Each floor article should use the List template, as these will need to list the rooms on each floor. We recommend that each list article is set to "Include child articles" in its list.

Buildings and Rooms in iCM

Buildings and floors must follow this structure, even if a building only has a single floor (or a single room).

Where should I create the Buildings?

Buildings can be grouped beneath different parent articles, and the parent articles secured to different groups of users. That would allow you to create one set of buildings and rooms for public bookings, and another for internal bookings. The IDs of the parent articles are added to the Room Booking configuration.

However, the Room Booking Search template can only be set to search for rooms beneath a single article, so if you do decide to group buildings in different areas of your site, you'll need to create separate search articles for each of them.

What about Rooms?

Rooms are created using a "contribute" form on your site. See Creating Rooms.
