Discount Schemes

Bookings lets you create a range of discounts that can be applied to bookings, giving fixed or percentage reductions to the cost.

Enabling Discounts

Discounts are enabled globally in the Bookings configuration End Point. When enabled a discount code input box will appear on all booking forms.

Users can enter a single discount code per booking, and if valid, will see a recalculated price for their booking. Percentage discounts are applied to each ticket purchased, fixed discounts are taken from the total price, potentially reducing the booking cost to zero.

Creating Discount Codes

Discounts are usually managed from within iCM using a Form App Shortcut (see the installation section for more information about all of the shortcuts used in Bookings) or the form could be published on a secure staff article.

To create a discount code press the "Create" button. Existing codes can also be edited. Each discount has a case sensitive code, a description, start and end dates, a percentage or fixed discount amount, and can be toggled on or off.

Validation

When a discount code is entered Bookings checks that the code exists, the discount is active, and that the date of purchase is within the start and end date range. Should any of these checks fail the user will receive a message informing them that the code was invalid.
