Notice of Marriage

This form is used to book an appointment to give notice of a marriage. It collects all of the details needed to make the appointment, lets the user select a time, then asks for payment before the appointment can be booked.

Details

The first page of the form checks that at least one of the people giving notice lives in the district and offers advice should they not. Both must also be EEA citizens. It also asks if a ceremony has been booked and where it is taking place. If one hasn't, or there are not 28 full days between the proposed ceremony and giving notice, guidance text is displayed and the appointment can't be booked.

The second page of the form checks whether either person has been married or in a civil partnership before. If they have, guidance is offered and the person is prompted to bring relevant documentation of their divorce, annulment, or the death certificate of a previous partner with them to the appointment.

The third page of the form collects the names, email addresses and telephone numbers of each partner. One email address or phone number must be provided.

If an interpreter is attending, additional time, set in the appointment configuration, is automatically added to the appointment.

Selecting an Appointment

Based upon the configured times for the appointment length and interpreter all users are given the duration of their appointment on this page.

Appointments booked by staff users via the slot booking calendar display the selected calendar, date and time slot at the top of this page. Beneath these details is a list of the next immediately available appointments.

Members of the public using the booking forms will see a list of the next five available appointments, with the option to show more dates. Selecting another date loads all of the available time slots on that day.

Check Your Answers

The final page of the form lets the user check all of their answers and jump back to any page that needs editing.

The cost of the appointment, which needs to be paid before the booking is confirmed, is shown.

The text of the booking form is set using the Comms Manager. In the Registrars application you'll find templates for each of the appointment types. For marriage notices the following can be set.
