Pulse

Using the Pulse Dashboard

The Pulse Dashboard is where you can see the results of your monitoring, and set up new service monitors.

Pulse will only be available to users who have the appropriate iCM Form App shortcut added to their homepage.

The Dashboard

Example Pulse dashboard showing three services

Each block on the dashboard represents one service. Each is colour coded:

  • Green - The service is responding normally
  • Yellow - The service is degraded
  • Red - The service is down

The thresholds for degraded and down are set when a service monitor is configured.

Service Summaries

Click on a block to see a summary of that service's performance.

Example Service Summary - BBC

The four buttons at the top of each block let you:

  • Play icon - Poll the service now
  • Graph icon - View a detailed breakdown (see below)
  • Gear icon - Amend the configuration or delete the service monitor
  • Export icon - Export the configuration

Detail View

Press the graph icon next to a service to open the detail view.

From here you can see:

  • A latency graph showing the history of latency across the full retention window
  • An uptime graph showing the history of whether the service was alive/degraded and its recovery speed across the full retention window
  • A table which lists each event logged by/to the Pulse service

Import and Export

Service configuration can be exported from one installation and imported into another. This only allows configuration to be moved between environments, not the recorded data.

Export an individual service configuration using the export icon next to that service.

Export Service

You can export all configured service monitors from the left-hand action menu.

Action Menu - Create

Both options will download a JSON file.

To import a configuration file, press the Import button in the left-hand action menu and upload your export file.
