The default ordering of the article tree is set in the Content Defaults section of iCM Management. It includes options to sort by heading, ID, creation date, display date and other properties, ordered either ascending or descending.
That same iCM Management section also lets you "Allow manual override of article tree sorting". If that option is set, the "Ordering" tab will appear in the article editor. This will let you to manually order articles, changing the layout of your site's lists and menus. Note that if manual ordering is enabled, the default sorting by heading etc settings are ignored.
Existing Articles
If manual ordering is enabled you can reorder articles:
- Edit the parent article of the articles you would like to reorder
- Open the "Ordering" tab
- Use the "Move up" and "Move down" buttons to change the ordering
- "Submit" the article
You can select multiple articles in the list using Ctrl or Shift and a mouse click, then use the buttons provided to move them up or down simultaneously.
New Articles
If manual ordering is enabled you can choose where an article appear when you are first creating it.
- Open the "Properties" tab
- Use the "Select" button to open the position menu
- Select the article your new article should appear above (the default is to appear last in the list)
