Cutting, Copying, Pasting

Cut, copy and paste operations are common requirements when working with text.

Cut/Cut to

Cut

This option allows selected text to be removed from its original location and held on the clipboard ready to be placed in a new location using the "Paste" option. To cut text, select the text in the editor and then either:

  • Press the "Cut" button on the toolbar
  • Right-click on the selected text and choose the "Cut" option from the menu
  • Use the Ctrl+X shortcut on your keyboard

The text editor also enables selected content to be moved to another text block or to one of the text fields on the article's summary section. Select the content you would like to move, right-click within it, and then use the "Cut to" menu option to choose where the content should be moved to. It will be deleted from its existing location and placed in the target location.

Copy

Copy

This option allows selected text to be duplicated and held on the clipboard ready to be placed in another location using the "Paste" option. To copy text, select the text in the editor and then either:

  • Press the "Copy" button on the toolbar
  • Right-click on the selected text and choose the "Copy" option from the menu
  • Use the Ctrl+C shortcut on your keyboard

Paste

Paste

This option allows any text that has been placed on the clipboard, using either "Cut" or "Copy", to be placed in the current location. To paste text, click within the editor at the desired location and then either:

  • Press the "Paste" button on the toolbar
  • Right-click within the editor and choose the "Paste" option from the menu
  • Use the Ctrl+V shortcut on your keyboard.

Paste as Plain Text

Paste Plain Text

This option works in the same way as "Paste", but once pasted into the text, the text will lose all its formatting and you will be able to style it as normal using the options in the text editor.
